REVIEW JAN 2017 - WORKIN' MAN CD
These guys work the rocking side of Chicago blues with a touch of western swing. They are smart and fun with enough of a light touch to keep everything interesting. A Nanaimo based four-piece with "Lazy" Mike Mallon on vocals and harp, Carson "McKinley Slim" Mallon on guitar, Brian Whitty on Bass, and Evan Matthiesen on drums. Muddy Waters given name was McKinley, which tells you where they locate their musical influences. Eleven tracks, eight originals, six written by Mike and two from bass player Whittey; plus covers of Little Walter's Just Your Fool, Freddie King's Hideaway, and Hank Williams Mind Your Own Your Business.
Apparently Nanaimo is the place to go to put on your dancing shoes. They Shufflin' down in Nanaimo. Ain't nobody shifflin' like they do in Nanaimo. Keep on shufflin' till they get it right. Down in Nanaimo.

"Lazy Mike and the Rockin' Recliners" are one of the hardest workin' Blues Bands on Vancouver Island. These guys always bring their "A" game to the shows they play and have had the crowds jumpin' every time that I have had the pleasure of seeing one of their shows. Good solid musicians who know how to entertain an audience with high energy, enthusiasm, and an honest passion for the music they play. One of the hightlights of the "Powell River Blues Festival!" http://powellriverblues2012.com
Everyone is still talking about it!! Especially "Are we going to do it again next year?" A perfect summer night dancing under the stars! It was a treat to work with such "professionals"....everything went off without a hitch!! Thank you once again and please book us in for the friday night of the August Long Weekend again next year!

A high energy blues band is set to stir the crowd at the Shady Rest Pub this weekend, with some rockin' guitar, bass and drums topped off with a fiery dose of harp.
Coombs April 11, 2011 at 12 am
We made our debut in Coombs at the rodeo hall. No goats were seen, only a really beautiful stage and a great hall, a perfect blank canvas. Sound system was delivered with operator. Mike and his Recliners were good and opened the evening with a lot of up tempo ringers. The band was fun. Not your typical entry level blues band. I can only wish them good luck as they were fun to have with us.
